Two art festivals will be in Richardson this May to welcome in the summer.

The Cottonwood Art Festival is coming to Cottonwood Park on May 6 and 7. Over 1,400 artists apply to be exhibited at the festival and only 200 are selected. There will be artists displaying work in almost every form of media, including 2D mixed media, 3D mixed media, ceramics, digital, drawing/pastels, fiber, glass, jewelry, metal, painting in both oil and acrylic, watercolor, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and wood.

There will also be a variety of vendors of food and drink, including espresso, handcrafted soda, and southern barbecue, in addition to craft beers, wine, and margaritas.

Additionally, there will be multiple events for children to take part in at the fair. Children can paint on canvases, mold polymer clay, create their own model trains, experiment on a pottery wheel, and weave using sunflowers.
