Texas is big. There is entertainment for everyone: whether you are a lover of small country towns or big city life, Texas has attractions for all. One brave Tik Toker who goes by the handle @therealshamar2x decided that he would identify–publicly–the “lamest cities” in Texas.

The video has amassed over 7,000 comments and over 110,000 likes. So, what cities did this Tik Toker deem the worst in Texas? In no particular order, he targets Killeen, Pearland, Irving, Midland, and Round Rock.

While some commenters agreed with the choice of cities selected, others argued that there is value within the small-town destinations.

Starting with Killen, home to Fort Hood, there is a melting pot of over 150,000 residents thanks to the military families who live there. Take a quick glance at the city calendar. You will see that, although there are not many activities to engage singles, there is plenty of family fun to explore.

Pearland is a southern community within Houston. It was the fifteenth fastest-growing city in the United States between 2000-2010. Houston is only a forty-minute drive from Pearland.

Irving is home to the Ruth Paine House Museum, the place where Lee Harvey Oswald spent the night before assassinating Former President John F. Kennedy. Irving, also, has several Instagrammable sites, such as the Mustangs of Las Colinas, the Las Colinas Flower Clock, and anywhere around the Mandalay Canal Walk of Las Colinas.

It is accurate that Midland-Odessa is known for the oil within the Permian Basin. However, the area was also once home to the Bush family–yes, that Bush family of the presidential dynasty.

When you look at a few of the notable people from Midland, the list is impressive Woody Harrelson, Tommy Lee Jones and, Law and Order’s Caroline McCormick.

According to VisitMidland.com, the city is host to fifty annual events.

Finally, Round Rock. It may be the most obscure of all the cities that the Tik Toker recognized. Redemptively, Round Rock does offer the largest indoor water park in North America.

While it is unclear whether the Tik Toker lived in (or currently resides in) Texas, maybe you have to be Texan to truly appreciate our little gems–y’all.
