Houston-based vintage clothing shop Thrifted Threads will be setting up shop in Deep Ellum, with plans to open in August, according to a report by CultureMap Dallas:
“Thrifted Threads was founded by Laith Awad, who began reselling clothes in 2017, initially as an online store until he opened a location in 2022 in Houston’s Montrose District when he was only 18. He opened a second store in College Station in 2023.
“Thrifted claims to have the world’s largest collection of fashionable second-hand clothes — a bold claim — and also to be ‘not your average thrift shop,’ with its mission save the planet by repurposing unique, affordable fashion.
“Clothing will come from iconic design eras from the ’70s to the 2000s, and will be arranged by color.
“Their Houston store has ball caps, letter jackets, sunglasses, T-shirts, jeans, and more. The location has cozy leather couches, car chasses hanging from the ceiling, a sculpture made of bicycle wheels, and more than one motorcycle, one with a skeleton rider.
“In Deep Ellum, they’ll join a robust vintage clothing scene that includes vendors such as 2nd Street and Add Vintage Now.”
