Texas’ largest celebration of independent and small craft brewers is returning for the annual Texas Craft Brewers Festival in East Austin on October 1.

“The Texas Craft Brewers Festival is a sampling-focused festival featuring more than 200 distinct Texas-brewed craft beers,” the website states.

“All GA & VIP tickets include a commemorative tasting cup and 10 sample tickets — each redeemable for a 3-ounce pour” in compliance with Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) on-site consumption rules.

Attendees must be 21 years old or older. If they want to sample more beverages, they have the option of purchasing beer ticket packages on-site.

Those who purchased VIP entry can arrive at noon, according to the festival website, while general admission entry is not until 2 p.m. The festival closes at 6:30 p.m., and the last call will be at 6:15 p.m.

There will also be live musical performances at the Texas Craft Brewers Festival, according to the festival’s Facebook page. The musical lineup includes DJ GrossYall, indie band Kev Bev, and Moon Tower Brass Band.

On September 7, the complete list of over 200 beers was released on the festival’s Facebook page. Some of the beers that will be available on tap include Local Crush, San Marcos Blonde, Black Thunder, Dream Juice, Monkey Bridge, Tiger’s Blood, and Dallas Blonde.

Breweries involved in this year’s festival include Deep Ellum Brewing Company, Central District Brewing, Austin Beerworks, Austin Beer Garden Brewing Company, and Texas Ale Project.

The Texas Craft Brewers Festival also features community collab tents where Texas brewers come together to craft a new beer. These tents are sponsored by Craft Pride, the website shares.

Collaboration crafts featured at the festival will include Fest Beer, Rat King, and Hive Mind.

Some of the Texas brewers collaborating this year are Denton County Brewing Company & Ingenious Brewing, Hold Out Brewing & Oddwood Brewing, and Texas Beer Co. & Tanglefoot Brewing.

Every year the festival is held by the Texas Craft Brewers Guild, a non-profit, member-driven organization. First formed in 2009, today, the guild includes more than 300 brewery members.

Caroline Wallace, the executive director for Texas Craft Brewers Guild, told Porch Drinking on September 20 that attendees for the state come from all over, not just Texas.

“As the largest beer festival in the state to feature exclusively Texas craft breweries, we can’t wait to come together again this fall to celebrate community and craft,” Wallace said.

“Texas Craft Brewers Festival is the Texas Craft Brewers Guild’s signature public tasting event and the ultimate opportunity to sample some of the best craft beer that Texas has to offer — all on the banks of the Colorado River in East Austin. We look forward to seeing beer enthusiasts from near and far on our favorite day of the year.”

The Texas Craft Brewers Festival will be held in the historic Fiesta Gardens.
