If you’re looking for an exciting and unique way to take in the natural beauty of Texas, look no further than the Cliff Carver.

Nestled within the picturesque Camp Fimfo resort in New Braunfels, this alpine coaster offers visitors an exhilarating journey through wooded areas and over hills at speeds of up to 25 miles per hour, per My San Antonio.

An alpine coaster is a kind of roller coaster that features carts equipped with a brake system that allows riders to regulate their speed while gravity propels them forward.

In the case of the Cliff Carver, the track runs for nearly a mile, per its website. Riders get a good view of the Guadalupe River before plunging down the hillside.

“Just imagine taking a skateboard down a hill but with twists, turns, and corkscrews,” said Drew Goodall, Camp Fimfo’s manager, per My San Antonio. “It’s just you and the rails, and the twists and turns … It gives you that thrill of almost driving a car down the track.”

The cart travels along a predetermined track that utilizes the natural topography of the area to create an exciting ride experience through the oak trees.

Camp Fimfo began construction of the Cliff Carver back in March 2022 and held a soft opening on February 18. It drew a large crowd, testifying to the excitement surrounding Texas’ first alpine coaster.

The Cliff Carver has been open to the public since February 24.

It runs every Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., per its website.

Single riders can take a trip for $20, provided that they are age 9 or older and a minimum of 54″ tall.

Duo riders pay $35 and cannot include anyone aged 3 and under. There is also a height requirement of 38″ minimum to ride.

No more than two people can fit on the sled and weight restrictions apply. During dry weather, one sled cannot hold more than 350 lbs and this bumps down to 300 lbs when things get wet.

If coasters aren’t your thing, there are plenty of other ways to get a breath of fresh county air at Camp Fimfo.

The resort has a growing list of attractions, including outdoor retreats, spa pools, mini golf, and a water park with a swim-up bar.

A zipline is currently in the works at Camp Fimfo, per its website. The two side-by-side zips will offer 360-degree views of Texas Hill Country — if you can brave the 16-story drop.

The resort is hoping to open this attraction by summer.
