Sugar Factory American Brasserie Sweetens up the Metroplex

Sugar Factory American Brasserie is a sweet new addition to the Metroplex. First welcomed to Texas on November 5 last year with the opening of its Uptown Dallas location, the delicious destination has locations all across the United States.

Sugar Factory American Brasserie is an eatery created to celebrate all things sweet (and savory.) The chain, frequented by celebrities (think the Jenners, Katy Perry, Britney Spears, athletes, and rappers), is a world-famous restaurant with an equally famed candy-retail store built right in.

“When we opened our first Sugar Factory location in Las Vegas, we knew we had something special. After receiving such an amazing response there, we decided to share our sweets, treats, and eats with the world,” Bryan Ogden, the corporate executive chef for Sugar Factory, said in an email after the eatery hosted a reporter from The Dallas Express for a night of dinners, drinks, and desserts. (Yes, all plural.)

“Texans are known for their hospitality, and Dallas has been very welcoming. Our Uptown location has had an amazing reception, and we are excited to be in Texas,” he added.

 According to Ogden, Texas can expect to be treated to two new locations this coming spring, with a Sugar Factory opening in The Shops at Rivercenter in San Antonio and the Houston Galleria.

Not to worry – though every location looks unique in design and décor, all of them feature the same signature dishes and candy store, so no matter where you visit, you can get the whole experience.

The décor is also a big part of the draw. Each eatery across the U.S. looks slightly different, but all are luxurious. As Ogden put it, “From our glamorous and Instagrammable dining rooms to our over-the-top entrees and legendary desserts, Sugar Factory provides an exciting, immersive, and memorable experience for any occasion.”

Sugar Factory has something for everyone, from children to adults. Kids will love the larger-than-life “Insane Milkshakes.”

Aptly named, the restaurant takes no shortcuts in topping these “insane” shakes – the Giggles Snickers Milkshake is topped with waffles; the Caramel Sugar Daddy Cheesecake milkshake has a slice of NY style cheesecake on top; the Princess Make A Wish milkshake has an entire cupcake; and the Cookie Monster Make A Wish features also features a whole cupcake… in addition to a full donut and chocolate chip cookie.

As if that wasn’t enough, the milkshake glasses themselves are frosted with chocolate icing, so candy and cookies can be stuck right to the sides.

The menu also leaves little to be desired from the adults, featuring truly massive (64-ounce) fishbowl cocktails, also topped with stacks of candy.

Many of the goblet drinks are made with celebrity liquors or are celebrity creations – the Strawberry Lemonade Smash and Tropical Fruit Punch are designed and taste-tested by Snoop Dogg featuring his Strawberry Indoggo Gin. In contrast, the Raspberry Watermelon Mojito, the Mai Tai, and the Classic Watermelon Pina Colada are all designed and taste-tested by Bruno Mars.

Ogden shared that his favorite fishbowl is The People’s Watermelon Cadillac Margarita, designed by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

If you’re looking for something the whole family (or city, maybe) can share, look no further than the massive King Kong Sundae – twenty-four scoops of ice cream covered with sprinkles, gummy bears, caramel sauce, fudge sauce, and giant whirly pops. The “most legendary dessert” on the menu, as Ogden put it, serves twelve.

Sugar Factory also does brunch, with “Monster Pancake Stacks,” which are just that – stacked with toppings ranging from cotton candy (Pink Cloud Pancake Stack) to cookies and cream ice cream cones (Cookie Jar Buttermilk Pancake Stack) to slices of cheesecake (Strawberry Cheesecake Overload).

Aside from the sweets, the restaurant also offers an array of savory entrees – from fine dining options like Ogden’s recommendation, the Pan Roasted Bone-in Prime Ribeye, basted with brown sugar, garlic, and thyme, to what are also aptly named “Monster Burgers.” Ogden likes The Big Cheesy, an eight-ounce Black Angus beef patty topped with American cheese, mac and cheese, bacon, crispy onions, and BBQ sauce.

Another burger undoubtedly worth mentioning is the Flaming HOT Cheetos Burger, which is precisely what it sounds like, but better – an 8-ounce Angus burger topped with Flaming-Hot-Cheetos-crusted pepper jack cheese and whole Hot Cheetos in a bun covered in crushed Hot Cheetos dust.

This Dallas Express reporter, an admitted Hot Cheetos lover, reports her wholehearted approval of this one.

Whether it’s for desserts or drinks, the restaurant seems to have embraced the Texas slogan of ‘go big or go home’ across the board.
