The rumors are true: Taylor Sheridan’s new Yellowstone spinoff has begun shooting here in DFW, and the new series is seeking locals to be extras at filming locations.
Downtown Dallas is being used as a stand-in for New York City in the new series featuring Michelle Pfeiffer.
Legacy Casting confirmed the exciting news when they posted on social media last week.
“Currently casting 18-45 year olds who haven’t worked on this project yet -to work this Friday 11/15 ALL DAY in Downtown Dallas (taking place as NYC). Likely starting 7/8am. Pay is $150/12,” read the November 13 post.
If you missed last week’s post, more opportunities remain. A November 14 post from Legacy Casting stated they are still looking for extras on November 20 in Fort Worth.
The series, called The Madison, will reportedly expand on the Dutton family dynasty, introducing new characters and welcoming back old ones.
Matthew Fox of Lost will join the show, which takes place immediately following the events of Yellowstone. The new series is considered a retitling for what was initially expected to be called 2024.
Like The Madison, Yellowstone was also filmed in North Texas.
As previously detailed in The Dallas Express, parts of season five of the series were filmed in Venus, south of the Dallas-Fort Worth region. At the time, Venus was transformed into a small Montana town. Around 200 extras were hired for the shoot.
“My Netflix stream is a mess. So here’s a video of Michelle Pheiffer getting into a NYC cab while on Main Street in Dallas. Filming a scene from a new Taylor Sheridan show. NYC=Dallas. Got it,” one user posted on X.
On November 10, Yellowstone premiered Season 5B after releasing a new episode on January 1, 2023. During the hiatus, show star Kevin Costner quit the series over alleged disagreements with Sheridan, upsetting some fans.
“I just want to reach out and let you know that after this long year and a half of working on Horizon and doing all the things that’s required, and thinking about ‘Yellowstone,’ that beloved series that I love, that I know you love… I just realized that I’m not going to be able to continue Season 5b or into the future,” Costner wrote on social media in June.
