It’s a celebratory St. Patrick’s Day weekend in DFW, with multiple festive events scheduled across the metroplex.
The St. Patrick’s Day Parade:
Dallas, get ready for the 42nd annual Dallas Mavericks St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday, March 11, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
While festivities begin at 9 a.m., the parade itself starts at 11 a.m. The event is free.
“We’re looking forward to having a great parade with great weather, great people, and a great environment for everyone,” said Mauricio Navarro, executive producer for the Navarro Group, to The Dallas Express. “It’s that one day where we as a community bond regardless of race, creed, [or] economic background. Every color, every spectrum, that to me is a community.”
The route for the parade begins on Greenville Avenue at Blackwell Street and ends at SMU Boulevard and Central Expressway. The parade will feature live music, festive floats, food trucks, and a celebration of the Irish spirit.
This year’s grand marshal will be Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson.
McKinney Shamrock Run:
If you’re in the mood for a run, the 6th Annual McKinney Shamrock Run 5K begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
People can arrive as early as 7:45 a.m. on race day; the event begins at 8 a.m.
The route begins and ends at TUPPS Brewery, located at 721 Anderson Street.
The Shamrock Run 5K will feature a fun and festive atmosphere for families and all who wish to attend.
The event will also showcase local vendors, tasty food choices, Green TUPPS beer, a costume contest, a photo booth, Irish music, and Irish dancing.
Cash prizes will be awarded to the top finishers. First place will receive $100, second place $50, and third place $25.
Early bird registration for the event will cost $35 and includes entry into the racecourse, a Shamrock Run 5K t-shirt, and a custom Shamrock Run bib.
St. Paddy’s Day Block Party:
The weekend of celebration continues with the St. Paddy’s Day Block Party at AT&T Discovery Park on Saturday, March 11, beginning at 11 a.m.
The block party will feature live music on the Jaxon stage, DJs from around the globe, drink specials, a live broadcast of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Greenville Avenue and plenty more.

The market opens at 10 a.m. and closes at 3 p.m.
