‘Shuck Me’ is a seafood restaurant that is located at 9560 Feather Grass Lane in Fort Worth. They are open for business on Sunday through Thursday, 11:00 am until 9:00 pm, and on Fridays and Saturdays from 11:00 am until 10:00 pm.

According to their website, there are four other locations for Shuck Me. They are also located in Southlake, Austin, Denton, and Hochatown, Oklahoma.

Community Impact Newspaper mentions that the Austin location is planning on opening before Christmas and the Denton location is on schedule to open in Spring of 2022. Hochatown was the second location of Shuck Me, and Fort Worth marks the third location.

Although the restaurant does not allow reservations, the menu for the Fort Worth location has a variety of seafood to choose from. Appetizers range in price from $5.99 to $15.49, allowing customers to select items from fried dill pickles to a twelve count of chilled, boiled shrimp.

Shuck Me also offers gumbos, chowders, fresh salads, fried baskets, grilled plates, combo baskets, fresh and grilled oysters, pasta, soft tacos, burgers, po-boys, sides, drinks, and a kids menu.

Community Impact Newspaper shared how the restaurant started for Roger and Monica Haverkamp. Roger called upon an old friend who had experience, Bill Curci, to guide them with their future restaurants.

With restaurant planning in the works, Roger “was running part of H&H Concrete On Demand Inc. out of a building right by his Southlake home.”

Roger’s friend told him that he should start a restaurant where that building was located, and that’s where the first Shuck Me seafood restaurant began.

The reason behind the restaurant’s name is because one day, a driver for H&H called Roger to explain how he “wrecked a brand new truck mixer, which cost about $300,000.”

Roger was surrounded by a lot of people during that call and “all he could think to say was, Shuck Me.” That’s when somebody there mentioned, “Hey, oh my gosh, that’s the name of your seafood restaurant.”

When Roger called upon his friend Bill Curci, the first question he asked was, “What’s it called?” It’s been twenty years since he has spoken to Roger and the name ‘Shuck Me’ did not initially appeal to him, but he decided to scope out the restaurant anyways.

After a visit, Curci “left his job as the vice president of operations for another restaurant in Fort Worth to serve as a chief operating partner for Shuck Me.”

He was impressed with the restaurant, its decor relating to fishing, and the family photos scattered around.

“It is literally a passion project of Roger and Monica,” Curci shared.

The fried catfish is the best-known item on the menu. Curci claims that he has overheard numerous people declare that Shuck Me seafood restaurant has the best overall lobster chowder.

According to Fort Worth’s Shuck Me’s Facebook page, the restaurant provides live entertainment with musical performances on select days.

Chris Graves left a review stating, “Awesome service, great food, and great atmosphere.”

Briget McClurkan Haney stated, “Everything was yummy! Great atmosphere. Feels just like being on the coast without the view.”

“Roger always says he doesn’t care if they make money, he just wants them to be successful and to have good reputations and for people to come in and enjoy it,” Curci shared.
