This weekend Oak Cliff will be hosting an event to celebrate the life and legacy of the Tejano music queen, Selena Quintanilla-Perez.

214 Selena is a community celebration to honor the late artist that has been held since 2014.

“Oak Cliff is significant to Selena just because of her connections,” Rafael Tamayo, manager of the Oak Cliff Cultural Center and one of the founders of 214 Selena, told D Magazine during last year’s event. “She did performances here, she shot a music video here. The local community is always super supportive and eager to celebrate her legacy and what she represented.”

Although Selena tragically died well before her time in March 1995, her legacy continues to hold great influence in pop culture and music as well as among the Latin-American community.

Saturday, March 25, 1-5 p.m.

Presented by the Oak Cliff Cultural Center, this year’s 214 Selena event will kick off at 1 p.m. on March 25 with an art show at Top Ten Records — Dallas’ longest-running record store.

Work from different artists will be featured alongside a pop-up exhibit dedicated to Selena.
