Select Walmart stores throughout Texas will soon include in-house restaurants. The new mini-restaurant, Shawarma Press, will offer Mediterranean food.

Recently, a Walmart in San Antonio opened a Shawarma Press, and more of the same is planned in Plano, Arlington, Georgetown, and other Texas Walmart locations.

“We’re thrilled that Walmart’s curated food service will allow us to introduce more people to our authentic, healthy, Mediterranean cuisine,” Shawarma Press Founder and CEO Sawsan Abublan shared in a statement. “Texans are known for their diverse palates, so we look forward to offering our fresh menu items to San Antonians and Walmart shoppers seeking delicious Mediterranean comfort food.”

The contemporary American-Mediterranean fusion restaurant specializes in wraps, bowls, and plenty of other healthy all-fresh options.

Customers can choose from appetizers that include an array of pickles, falafels, flavorful hummus, grape leaf rolls, and spinach pastry. As for wraps, Shawarma features Tex-Mex wraps, chicken shawarma, tandoori, beef, hummus wraps, as well as salad bowls, hummus bowls, and rice bowls.

“Our guests are delighted and sometimes surprised that our dishes are made from scratch, including our famous hummus, falafel, and sauces that are available for take-out or dine-in at Walmart,” Abublan shared. “We also use only high-quality ingredients, including chicken and premium beef raised with no hormones, steroids, or antibiotics, and humanely handled according to Halal guidelines.”

Shawarma Press is open seven days a week with hours into the evening for those looking to grab dinner. The fast-but-fresh franchise has several locations in Texas as it looks to expand its twist on comfort Mediterranean foods.
