The countdown to Christmas is on. Before long, the season will be over, and the colorful Christmas lights will be taken down. Until then, Dallas offers countless events and activities to help celebrate the holidays.
Visit Santa
Mr. Clause will be in town at Galleria Dallas’ Santaland until Christmas Eve. Tickets to meet the big man can be reserved here.
Take A Drive To See The Lights
North Texas knows how to celebrate. If you want to increase your Christmas spirit, take a leisurely drive through some of the city’s traditionally bright neighborhoods and streets, like Walnut Hill, Hockaday Drive, Strait Lane, Timberhollow Circle, and Oak Cliff.
Hit The Theatre
A Christmas classic will grace the Dallas stage this season. Catch A Christmas Carol, which runs through December 24 at the Wyly Theatre.
Take An Evening Stroll
Take in the sights and sounds on December 22 for the final evening of the Holiday Nights on Knox Street. Shops will be decked out in Christmas lights, featuring live music with discounts and happy hours.
Give Back to The City
Now, more than ever, Dallas’ four-legged friends need assistance with influenza hitting the canine population. The SPCA of North Texas will host its annual pet adoption event, Home for the Holidays, daily at NorthPark Center between noon and 6 p.m. until December 23.
Operation Kindness pet adoptions will also be active this month. The campaign will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday on the first floor of Galleria Dallas until December 24.
Grab A Drink With Friends
The name says it all – The Tipsy Elf bar is not just a temporary holiday handle for this local favorite. This year-round festive-themed Dallas establishment turns it up a notch this time of year.
Listen To Live Music
See Chris Isaak live on his “Everybody Knows It’s Christmas” tour on December 21 at the House of Blues. The Trans-Siberian Orchestra will perform at the American Airlines Center on December 28.
Catch A Flick
Alamo Drafthouse will play holiday favorites throughout December, like “Elf,” “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation”, “Love Actually,” “A Christmas Story,” and more.
Brave The Malls
Grab some last-minute gifts at the Galleria before December 24 and enjoy the light show on the tallest indoor Christmas tree in the country. Shows run at noon, 2 p.m., 4 p.m., 6 p.m., or 8 p.m. (No shows on Sunday at 8 p.m.).
Drop By A Christmas Exhibit
NorthPark Center will house a massive gingerbread house exhibit, Gingertown Dallas, with designs from David M. Schwarz Architects, running until the New Year.
