A 19-year-old giraffe from the Dallas Zoo died on Friday, Oct. 22.

According to a report by FOX News, the giraffe passed away due to age-related health issues that led to liver failure.

Auggie was the zoo’s oldest giraffe. According to the Dallas Zoo official website, the zoo had eight giraffes before Auggie’s passing. The remaining giraffes are Chrysal, Kendi, Ferrell, Jessie, Five, Katie, and Tebogo.

Auggie’s death makes the second giraffe’s death the zoo will mourn this month. As reported by the Dallas Express two weeks ago, another giraffe from the zoo, Marekani, was euthanized. The zoo officials had to take that step after the 3-month old giraffe calf suffered a dislocation on her right elbow and fractures on her radius and ulna, injuries that are nearly impossible to repair.
