Nike and Tiffany & Co. are partnering to create and release a new sneaker and a collection of sterling silver accessories.
On January 31, the two companies announced the collaboration and debuted their Nike x Tiffany & Co. Air Force 1 1837 and various accessories.
The brands took out an ad in The New York Times with the slogan “A Legendary Pair.”
The shoes are set to be released for purchase on March 7. This is the first partnership for Tiffany’s and Nike and is a celebration of the 40th anniversary of Air Force 1s.
The shoes are premium black suede, but the Nike swoosh symbol is Tiffany blue. There is also silver detailing above each heel. The shoes will sell for the hefty price of $400.
Customers can purchase the shoes at only two Tiffany & Co. locations, both in New York City: The Tiffany Flagship Next Door or Tiffany & Co. SoHo. Additionally, the shoes can be purchased online through Nike’s SNKRS app and through a select amount of Nike retail stores in North America.
The sterling silver accessories that are being released are limited edition and include co-branded designs of a sterling silver whistle, shoe horn, shoe brush, and a deubré.
A deubré is an ornamental shoelace tag commonly seen on sneakers, popularly associated with Nike.
The accessories will be available online through the Tiffany & Co. website, retailing from $250-$475.
A press release stated, “Tiffany & Co. has offered the world’s finest jewelry since its founding in 1837 and set the current American standard for sterling silver (925 parts per 1,000 parts silver). Each design is as much a celebration of the Nike x Tiffany & Co. Air Force 1 1837 as it is a display of the House’s unparalleled savoir-faire and craftsmanship.”
In recent years, Tiffany’s has entered into several collaborations. The brand’s partnership with Nike can be seen as part of a larger movement to attract a younger audience, just as Tiffany’s previously partnered with Beyoncé and Jay-Z.
