Sprouts Farmers Market is holding its grand opening this weekend of its newest Dallas location in the Trinity Mills neighborhood at 17795 Dallas Pkwy.

The grand opening event began Friday and runs through Sunday with a variety of events and activities.

Shoppers lined up early Friday morning to check out the new store and participate in the festivities. After the 6:45 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony, the doors opened at 7 a.m., and eager customers flooded into the building.

The first 200 through the door received a “Goodness It’s Free” goodie bag filled with product samples. The first 200 guests Saturday can also nab a goodie bag for themselves.

A “large interactive and educational experience area” will be available all weekend, offering guests the chance to “taste seasonal citrus fruit, play games, have their face painted, watch artists carve large produce, and more,” the store’s press release stated.

Other activities include a Vendor Village, free samples, fruit school, a “Guess the Weight” contest, a kids’ tote-coloring project, and free recipe giveaways.

Customers who text “MILLS” to 777-688 will receive 20% off their purchase when they scan their Sprouts app account barcode at checkout. Shoppers can use the app to view weekly ads and “clip” digital coupons.

The Dallas Express spoke to early-bird shopper Jo Penix, who was the very first person to line up to shop at her favorite store.

“I’m ecstatic! I love Sprouts; it’s close by so I can come very often to shop,” Penix told The Dallas Express.

Penix believes that the new store will help the neighborhood grow.

“It’ll bring more traffic to the neighborhood; it will be good,” she said.

“We are thrilled to welcome another Sprouts Farmers Market to our city and to the Trinity Mills area,” said Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson in a statement.

Sprouts Farmers Market has approximately 380 stores in 23 states, with 52 in Texas.

“Dallas remains committed to building committed to building stronger, healthier, and more vibrant neighborhoods, and Sprouts is a great partner in this effort,” Johnson said.

Store manager Bennett Ruckle expressed his excitement about opening the new location in the Trinity Mills area.

“This is amazing, this is amazing!” he exclaimed as he watched the bustling activity in the store.

“Especially in this area, having a Sprouts opening up in this neighborhood is amazing; we’re already catering to the school behind us, too,” Ruckle told The Dallas Express.

“The community efforts I have start with the school, so I try to get involved in the community and take care of what’s around the store,” he explained.

“It means healthy living for less; it’s where goodness grows!” added Ruckle, echoing the company’s well-known advertising slogans.

The new store is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
