Violet Crown Cinema is set to open its first Dallas location in early December.

This will be the company’s fourth location in the U.S.

The theater will be located in West Village in what was once the Magnolia Theater. The Magnolia Theater closed down during the pandemic and, unfortunately, was never able to reopen.

Violet Crown Cinema is being spearheaded by the founder of Magnolia, Bill Banowsky.

Magnolia Theater has been undergoing significant renovations before opening in December. There will be five auditoriums featuring high-quality sound, recliner seating, and digital cinema projections.

The kitchen will serve food made-to-order, along with classic theater concession options. The bar will feature craft beer, wine, and cocktails. Patrons can enjoy food and beverages during the movie with the trays that will be at every seat.

The cinema also uses local vendors to supply food. Among the local vendors used at the Austin location are CLEAN Cause, which produces organic sparkling yerba mate drinks; Moonlight Bakery, which produces baked goods; and Texas Coffee Traders, which provides beans and brews.

It is still unknown which local vendors will be chosen from Dallas to be featured at the cinema but the theater is presently hiring staff, and applications can be found here.

Banowsky stated that he is excited to return to the same location with a new concept but the same service — cinema.

“We’re delighted to bring film back to Uptown with a premiere cinema experience in the heart of Dallas,” he said.

The cinema’s opening will align with a number of big movies hitting the theaters, such as the much-anticipated sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water, the action movie Savage Salvation, and the dark Christmas comedy, Violent Night.

Along with showing blockbuster films, the theater is known to specialize in showing lesser-known films, such as indie films, documentaries, and foreign films.

Violet Crown’s Dallas location will be joining its three others located in Austin; Sante Fe, New Mexico; and Charlottesville, Virginia.
