A woman from Garland won nearly $50,000 on Friday from a Publishers Clearing House sweepstakes.
Teresa DeMoss was at home entering more Publishers Clearing House (PCH) sweepstakes when she heard a knock on the door.
The PCH Prize Patrol was waiting outside her door and ready to present DeMoss with a brand new Ford Ranger Lariat Supercrew. The Dallas Express was on hand to see her accept her prize.
“I am so excited!” exclaimed DeMoss after opening the door. “I’m going to start crying. I’m so excited.”
Rather than taking the vehicle, she opted for the cash value alternative worth $48,195.
When asked what she’ll do with the money, DeMoss said, “Probably go to Tennessee and see my best friend.”
“She’s been wanting me to come and I’d said ‘Oh, I can’t right now,” DeMoss shared. “Part of it is going to my family too.”
DeMoss said she has been entering PCH sweepstakes for years, but this was the first time she won a prize worth more than a few dollars.
“This is my part-time job. I do it for three or four hours a day and I do it every day, whether I stay up until midnight to do it or I get up in the morning,” she said.
“It doesn’t seem like a chore because I’m just used to it. I get up and get my iPad, my phone, and here I go.”
DeMoss said that her friends at work doubted whether she would ever win one of the sweepstakes she entered.
“They’d go, ‘You go girl but you’re never going to win,’ and I’d say, ‘You watch, you’re going to see me one day and I’m going to win,” she said.
Despite others’ doubt, DeMoss said she had faith that she could win if she kept entering.
“I just kept thinking “You know, one day it’ll pay off if I just keep going,” she said to The Dallas Express.
DeMoss offered some advice to anyone who chooses to enter a PCH sweepstakes:
“Don’t give up. Keep going it’s worth it and yes it does pay off.”
