The Charles W. Eisemann Center announced its shows for the 2023-24 season at the Richardson City Council Meeting on May 8.
The performing arts center will have at least 26 shows for the upcoming season. It has not had as many seasonal performances scheduled since before the COVID-19 pandemic.
The center expects to earn over $1.5 million in revenue this season, the bulk of which will be from ticket sales. The venue is anticipated to earn almost $1.3 million from ticket sales alone.
Here is a sampling of the wide range of musical and dramatic performances taking the stage during the upcoming season.
The season kicks off on Saturday, September 23, with two performances of Frankenstein presented by Manual Cinema, featuring handmade shadow puppetry and innovative music.
On September 29, there will be a performance by Mariachi Herencia de Mexico.
October will include a performance from Step Afrika!, a dance company dedicated to the African tradition of “stepping,” and a performance from the final world tour of the vocal group, The Manhattan Transfer.
In November, patrons can see a jazz tribute performance to Disney and a tribute to Judy Garland.
Celebrate the holidays with a Christmas Spectacular featuring the dance company Ballet Folklorico de Los Angeles and Mariachi Garibaldi de Jaime Cuellar in December.
In January, there will be performances by the American jazz band, The Hot Sardines, and later in the month, by Judy Collins and the Richardson Symphony Orchestra.
February will bring The Sound of {Black} Music (a rendition of the American musical classic) and a performance from the Brian Stokes Mitchell Trio.
March offerings include Patti Lupone: A Life in Notes and a performance of Cenicienta: A Bilingual Cinderella Story.
April brings a performance from 360 Allstars, an “urban circus,” that features “dancing, beat boxing, acrobatics, BMX biking and more,” according to the company’s website. On April 24, there will be a performance from the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain.
