Lit Kitchen & Lounge is a new steak and sushi restaurant in Downtown Dallas. The new establishment is not just another traditional restaurant. Head celebrity chef Jimmy Tessier calls it a “supper club.”
Jimmy Tessier, who has worked with the likes of chef Emeril Lagasse and Top Chef’s Carla Pellegrino, spoke with Dallas Culture Maps about his latest venture. “It’s a supper club feel but with a wow factor,” Tessier shared.
Lit Kitchen & Lounge has opened in the northeast corner of the Central Business District at 609 N. Harwood Street. The establishment brings its patrons great food, drinks, and some exciting nightlife with Tessier’s influence. He sought to use his experience and inspirations of Las Vegas, San Diego, and New England, where he attended school at Johnson & Wales University. The result was a high quality restaurant with a night life.
The menu features high-quality steaks and sushi, fusion-inspired dishes, and some unique starters including chicken parmesan lollipops, miso black cod in lettuce cups, arancini balls with smoked mozzarella, and more.
“We’ll have great sushi and nothing but Prime for steaks, plus the Japanese fusion food that has been my specialty for the past few years,” Tessier shared.
Aside from a unique modern menu, Lit Kitchen & Lounge’s décor is what Tessier calls a “steakhouse with swag.” From red velvet to gold accents, the space is designed to look luxurious, yet cozy, with comfortable seating areas and fish tanks. The space was formerly occupied by the 609 Harwood Jazz Club.
“From my experience in Las Vegas, I learned ‘the casino approach,’ where you offer great food and give people a reason to stay,” Tessier shared. “We’ll have some good high-end steaks and seafood and sushi, incorporating French, Italian, and Japanese dishes, and then you can stick around for the party.”
