What better way to kick off the hottest month of the year than with some cool activities?
From beach parties and stomping grapes to smoking briskets, Fort Worth has it, and here are all the details to help you plan your weekend.
Enjoy a Pop-Up Beach Party at Atico on Thursday, August 1, at 6 p.m. Atico is a rooftop bar and restaurant at the Springhill Suites in the Fort Worth Stockyards. The event is a beachy and all-things girly-inspired party in honor of National Girlfriend Day. Special vendors will be selling all the best goods, including boots, clothing, flowers and even salon services. Dining options will include a prix-fixe menu offering three courses from steak, oysters, or short rib, paired with a glass of wine or their special Codigo Rose margarita for $80.
If you can’t make it to Atico on Thursday or just want to keep the festivities going, enjoy happy hour at the Kimbell Café inside the Kimbell Art Museum’ Kahn Building on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. Enjoy an array of snacks and beverages accompanied by live music by the Allegro Guitar Society. Admission is free, and museum members will receive a 10% discount on food and beverages.
On Saturday, August 3, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., take an educational class at Rahr & Sons Brewing Company to learn how to smoke a brisket like a pro. Participants will learn how to select the best cut, manage the fire, and trim the final product. Ticket prices start at $139 and $129 for additional participants. Visit Backyard Pitmaster’s website to sign up and learn more about what you can experience at this event.
If a Bloody Mary is more your style than smoked brisket, join bartenders from Restaurant 506 at The Sanford House in Arlington from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and learn how to make the most delicious Bloody Mary from the pros themselves. The class costs $35, and small snacks are included. Details and sign-up options are available on the restaurant’s website.
Channel your inner Lucy at the 17th Annual Harvest Fiesta and Grape Stomp on Saturday at Lost Oak Winery in Burleson. Attendees can sign up to stomp the grapes with their bare feet, I Love Lucy style, and dress like the beloved red-haired TV sitcom icon for a chance to win prizes in a costume contest. The festivities include a full band, a variety of vendors, and food trucks, including Hibachigo and Nona’s Argentina Bakery. General admission to the event is free, but tickets to join the grape stomping event are $25. Stomp time slots are available until 8 p.m., but the venue will be open for attendees to enjoy music and food from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
