A group of master ice sculptors arrived in Grapevine Tuesday, getting to work on transforming 6,000 massive blocks of ice into larger-than-life sculptures.

Each year Gaylord Hotels brings a troupe of artisans from Harbin, China, to carve a winter wonderland of ice for each of its five locations.

The Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine, located at 1501 Gaylord Tr., is hosting this annual ICE! festival from November 10 to December 31. The exhibit will stretch over 17,000 square feet and feature not only ice sculptures but also tunnels and slides.

The immersive experience will take on the theme of Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas!

“When people are walking through the attraction they’re going to see all the scenes from that story and all the characters,” said Martha Neibling, director of public relations for the Gaylord Texan Resort, according to Fox 4 KDFW.

This mesmerizing visual spectacle is for visitors of all ages to enjoy. Ticket prices start at $28.99 for adults and $19.99 for children. However, there are also special offers available to bundle your tickets with admission to other events or include an overnight stay at the Gaylord Texan.

As previously reported in The Dallas Express, last year’s ICE! event had a “Polar Express” theme. It was also the grand return of the one-of-a-kind attraction after a two-year hiatus. The event has otherwise been held each year since 2005.

Be sure to dress warmly, as the ice sculptures, tunnels, and slides will be kept in pristine frozen shape throughout the festival thanks to a brisk 9-degree temperature tent.

Some warmer activities will also be on offer at the Gaylord Texan, so don’t hesitate to go check them out after saying hi to the Grinch and exploring Whoville.

For instance, there will be a snow tubing hill, a whimsical carousel, opportunities for ice skating, delightful cookie decorating sessions, and millions of twinkling holiday lights to take in.

This event is just one of the many reasons Grapevine claims to be the Christmas Capital of Texas. Other upcoming Christmas events include the 35th annual Carol of Lights on November 20, the Grapevine Christmas Market from November 25 to December 23, and plenty more.
