Six Flags Hurricane Harbor in Arlington announced plans on Thursday for the largest investment in the water park to date, just ahead of its 30th anniversary year in 2025.

A highlight of the 47-acre water park’s expansion is a new coastal-themed area with a 58,000-square-foot multi-level interactive play structure for kids that incorporates 110 water features, seven water slides, and a 1,000-gallon Texas-sized tipping bucket.

An additional seven-water-slide complex will offer various options for smaller riders, including a mini-tornado water slide and a mini-wave slide, which takes riders on a more gentle trajectory before depositing them on a safe, soft mat landing area.

The park enhancements will also include a new self-play Splash Pad with 24 water features and “new family cabanas, oversized umbrellas, junior-sized lounge furniture, [and] refurbished restrooms.” The signature on-site restaurant will also be renovated and feature an upgraded menu with new food and beverage options.

“This historic expansion at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor represents a whole new experience for families next year,” said Richard Douaihy, the park president of Six Flags Over Texas and Hurricane Harbor, per Focus Daily News. “We are transforming the water park with exciting new family attractions and enhanced comfort and dining options, making it the premier destination for family waterpark fun in North Texas.”

Six Flags Entertainment Corporation has also announced investments and upgrades at other theme parks in its portfolio across the United States, including the construction of seven new roller coasters.

“Our capital plans for the year ahead reaffirm our commitment to providing unparalleled thrills, immersive entertainment, and unforgettable memories to guests of all ages,” said Richard Zimmerman, Six Flags president and CEO, per The Dallas Morning News.

The Six Flags Entertainment Corporation, valued at $8 billion, was created this summer through a merger of Six Flags and Cedar Fair, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.
