A new neighborhood supermarket has opened off Knox Street in Dallas.

Dallas-based entrepreneur Zachary Porter recently celebrated the grand opening of a roughly 5,000-square-foot gourmet grocery cafe called Berkley’s Market.

Berkley’s Market is located at 3300 Knox St. and is Porter’s fourth grocery store concept to open in Dallas, following two in Downtown Dallas and one in Oak Cliff. Besides carrying the typical list of grocery products, the supermarket also features gourmet food items, a 600-square-foot patio, a coffee and wine bar, a lunch counter, and more.

“We couldn’t be more excited about our new location, which also feels a bit like a homecoming for us,” Porter told The Dallas Express. “We’re honored and grateful to be here on one of Dallas’ best walking streets.”

Berkley’s Market has officially become the grocery chain’s largest and newest flagship store, according to Porter, reported Dallas CultureMap. “We’ve always had wine for sale by the bottle and by the glass, but we wanted to create an area that made it comfortable to sit down and have a glass with charcuterie and snacky things.”

Even though Porter has already opened several supermarkets, the newest grocery-cafe hybrid carries special significance for him due to it being less than two miles from Royal Blue Grocery, the location of his first grocery concept, which opened in 2015.

“It does feel like a return to the neighborhood for us, and we’re thrilled to be seeing lots of familiar faces and regulars,” Porter said, per Dallas CultureMap. “We’re also superexcited about being on Knox Street, and we’re off to a good start, stocking up and reviewing requests to get the items our new neighborhood wants.”

With a fine-tuned focus on delivering a satisfactory experience for the community, Porter hopes the store’s unique appeal and exclusive features will help attract a large customer base.

“Knox is such a buzzy street and I’m hoping we’re a real convenience for everybody in the neighborhood,” said Porter, per Dallas CultureMap.

When gauging a company’s potential for long-term success, the location of the business can often be a deciding factor. Berkley’s Market, for instance, is not only situated in one of the City’s premier shopping areas surrounded by over 70 shops and restaurants but also just steps away from Katy Trail.

“I love riding my bike up the Katy Trail to work… even in this heat!” Porter told The Dallas Express. “One week in and we’re already having a blast seeing old friends and meeting new customers,” he added.
