From Seed To Bloom: Faith Through Life’s Seasons

Faith & Family Weekend Edition: Blooming through adversity – a journey of faith and resilience

As seed is to soil, we must grow through to get to…

The question is, where are we trying to get to?

Moving forward often requires digging deep — knowing who we are as much as who we are not.

Challenges will come, just as they have already.

We bend and adapt, but we do not break.

We trust the bloom will resurface in due season.

Again and again, we are pruned.

Again and again, we persevere.

In securing our roots, we fortify our reach.

The sun beckons the bud to open.

In blooming, we risk exposure.

Yet, to remain closed keeps us fastened to complacency.

In this, we risk becoming judgmental, fearful, cynical, and bitter.

Faith requires moving while night is still night, trusting the light will come.

Hope yields a fragrant offering.

The flower’s reach extends to the limit of its lingering perfume.

Is there a limit?

Many lives can be heartened by a single bloom.

A flower never knows its full impact — it just blooms as God intended.

Eventually, the petals drop, returning to the dirt… to the roots.

We mourn the loss of what may never be while letting go in gratitude of that which now belongs to memory.

We thank the maker of the seasons for the storms and the sunshine — for life and the opportunity to live.

We have grown through so much, haven’t we?

Year after year, trial after trial, joy after joy.

And where did we arrive?

We arrived in the day — today, sweet friend.

Where we go today depends on where we are trying to get to.

We are actively living and dying, but our desired destination is eternal.

The blooms of life create more life, producing seeds for new seasons.

When the Lord dances us to Heaven, seeds left will still root.

Eventually, they will once again bloom.

Again and again.

Again and again.

May our hope and faith be a fragrant offering that reaches well beyond the days of our lives.
