North Texas is going all out for the Fourth of July, with a variety of celebrations and festivities occurring across the metroplex.
There is no shortage of ways to celebrate Independence Day, from traditional celebrations such as firework shows and parades to newer festivities such as drone shows and pie-eating contests.
Here are some local celebrations occurring to ring in the Fourth of July.
Free: July Jubilee, Denton
The July Jubilee will take place at Quakertown Park and feature some classic traditions alongside some newer ones. Live music, carnival treats from various vendors, rock climbing, inflatables, and a hot dog-eating contest are just a few of the festivities you can expect at this event. A drone show at dusk will cap off the evening. The celebration runs from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on July 3 at Quakertown Park.
Addison Kaboom Town
Ranked Kaboom Town No. 5 for the 10 Best Places to See Fireworks by USA Today, this festival includes the Warbirds airshow, live music, food and beverage vendors, and a firework show. Kaboom Town will occur from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on July 3 at Addison Circle Park. Tickets can be purchased via the event website.
Independence Day Celebration, Farmers Branch
This celebration includes fun activities for the whole family. Farmers Branch has something for everyone, from face painting and character meet-and-greets to food and live music. Farmers Branch residents are eligible for free tickets to the event using a Firecracker Pass, while non-residents must pay a $5 entry fee. The celebration will occur on July 3 from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Farmers Branch Historical Park. Early entry at 6 p.m. is available for residents with the Firecracker Pass.
Free: Red, White and You, Garland
The City of Garland is pulling out all the stops for their celebration, including live music by country music star Randall King and singer-songwriter Jon Stork. Food will be available from local restaurants and food trucks, and there will be plenty of games for attendees. There will also be a drone show to honor our nation’s independence. The event will be held on July 3 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. in Downtown Garland Square.
Free: Stars and Stripes, Southlake
Southlake’s Stars and Stripes festivities include two stages filled with live music, food truck vendors, and games and activities for the whole family to enjoy. At the end of the night, attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs to watch the fireworks display. The celebration will be from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on July 3 at the Southlake Town Square, with fireworks at 9:30 p.m.
Free: Crape Myrtle Festival, Waxahachie
Waxahachie is hosting several events on July 3 and 4 to celebrate our nation. On July 3, the annual Crape Myrtle Festival will be held at the Waxahachie Sports Complex from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The Fourth of July celebration will be on July 4, with a parade in the morning (10 a.m. at Getzendaner Park), followed by a concert from Endless Summer and a fireworks show in the evening. Free: Arlington Independence Day Parade
With one of the largest Fourth of July parades in the United States, the Arlington Independence Day Parade boasts over 120 floats, bands, drill teams, and more. This year’s event theme is “Home Run for Heroes.” The parade will begin at approximately 9:00 a.m. at the intersection of West Street and Mitchell Street.
Free: Red, White and BTX, Burleson
Burleson Lions Club will lead an Independence Day parade to kick off the city’s patriotic festivities. Later in the evening, a Luke Combs tribute band will be playing at 7:30 p.m. at Chisenhall Fields. Food trucks and a fireworks show are also in the lineup for the festivities at Chisenhall Fields on July 4 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Free: Liberty by the Lake, The Colony
The annual Liberty 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run mark the beginning of the Fourth of July events in The Colony. Following the runs, there will be a community parade, and in the evening, attendees can celebrate with rides, food, live music, and, of course, fireworks. Independence Day Family Weekend at the Dallas Arboretum
The Dallas Arboretum is hosting a weekend full of family fun with a petting zoo, live music, and popular foods and treats to celebrate the holiday. Free: Fair Park Fourth, Dallas
Fair Park is planning a day filled with activities for kids, entertainment and live music, food trucks, local market vendors, and more. After the daytime festivities, enjoy a fireworks display to end the evening. The celebration on July 4 runs from 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Fair Park.
Free: July Fourth Fireworks Celebration, DeSoto
The City of DeSoto is partnering with the City of Lancaster to put on an evening celebration for the Fourth of July. Activities for kids, live music, food, and fireworks are all a part of this collaboration happening at Grimes Park in DeSoto from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on July 4.
Free: Fort Worth’s Fourth
Cowtown is pulling out all the stops with their Texas-sized firework show and Fourth of July celebration at Panther Island. Attendees can bring their own float and enjoy a dip in the Trinity River, listen to live music, partake in kids’ activities, and enjoy festival food. It all culminates in a firework display like no other at 9:30 p.m. The event runs from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on July 4.
Free: Hometown Fourth of July, Granbury
Join in on the weekend-long festivities in Granbury. They kick off the celebration with a Fourth of July parade with various floats, marching bands, and community organizations. A fireworks show over Lake Granbury will cap off the festivities on the Fourth. The fun doesn’t end on July 4, with various vendors, live music opportunities, and even hot dog and pie-eating contests occurring through July 7. Free: Red, White and Boom, McKinney
McKinney’s annual Red, White and Boom celebration includes a parade (happening at 10 a.m.) and a Yankee Doodle Block Party (starting at 11 a.m.). The festival later features kid activities, a concert, food, and a fireworks finale show. The morning events will take place downtown, with the evening festivities running from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Gabe Nesbitt Community Park.
