The 2021 Film Friendly Texas Forum kicks off in a virtual format to allow more attendance amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

Co-sponsored by the Texas Film Commission and AMP Studios, the event begins Sept. 24, followed by events on Sept. 28-30. Programming includes:

  • How to become a Film Friendly Texas certified community
  • Producing films in the Lone Star state
  • How to become a digital media-friendly community
  • Closing keynote conversation
  • Film Friendly Texas community partner networking

The jobs created by the Texas film industry are vital to the Lone Star State’s economy. Part of the state’s film commission includes the Texas Moving Image Industry Incentive Program (TMIIIP), designed to build the economy and create jobs.

Since its inception, $1.66 billion has been spent on film, television, and video gaming in the state. This has created more than 157,000 jobs, with a 511% return on investment from 2007 to 2020.

As part of the governor’s office, the Texas Film Commission serves Texas’s film, television, commercial, animation, visual effects, video game, and extended reality (XR) industries. Since 1971, the Commission has promoted Texas as a “premier production destination across all media industries.”

Registration for the 2021 virtual forum also provides access to the 2022 in-person Film Friendly Texas Forum, which is scheduled to occur at the iconic Southfork Ranch that gained its fame from the television show “Dallas.”

More information about the schedule, event fees, and registration are available on Eventbrite.
