Father’s Day and Juneteenth Events Across DFW

With Juneteenth fast approaching, celebrations will be taking place all weekend long, and this weekend is full of fun and festive events happening across the DFW area.

USA Fit Games:

Dallas is set to host one of the largest sports and fitness expos in the country this weekend.

Fitness fanatics and enthusiasts from across the country will converge in Dallas at the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center Saturday, June 17.

The event features tons of exhibitors, samples, live athletic events, and tournaments.

The games will showcase obstacle courses, fitness shows, and more.

The games will also feature the 2023 Cowboy Cup Sumo Open, which will showcase the power of American and international Sumo in the heart of Dallas.

Admission to the family-friendly event is not free. Children’s admission begins at $10, and admission for adults begins at $25.

2023 Dallas Soul Flower Music Fest:

The Soul Flower Music Fest is a one-day extravaganza celebrating soul, R&B, neo-soul, and hip-hop artists.

The festival will showcase both national and local talent.

In addition to musical guests, eventgoers will also be able to partake in delicious food, fun games, shopping, and contests.

The festival begins Saturday, June 17, at 2 p.m. and will conclude at 9 p.m. at Main Street Garden Park in Dallas.

Admission to the event begins at $12, and kids 8 and under are given free admission to the festival.

Juneteenth on Main Block Party:

On Sunday, Father’s Day, Deep Ellum comes alive with Juneteenth on Main Block Party celebrating the upcoming holiday.

The family-friendly block party will begin at noon and ends at 6 p.m. and showcases over 25 local vendors.

Local musical artists such as Jess Garland will be performing at the event.

The event will also be featuring R&B sensation Dru Hill, who will be headlining the event as they celebrate their own anniversary of 25 years.

“A large part of my career started in Deep Ellum,” said Garland speaking to The Dallas Express.

“I am a Dallas, Texas native, so it is really exciting to be able to celebrate our history and celebrate blackness as specific to Texas,” said Garland.

Admission to the event is free.

Fort Worth Zoo Father’s Day Cookout:

The Fort Worth Zoo is celebrating Father’s Day by hosting a Father’s Day cookout Saturday evening at the Bluebonnet Café in Texas Wild.

Zoo members get a 10% discount.

Tickets are sold out according to the Zoo’s website, however, for those attending, there will be a train ride to the cookout provided by the Yellow Rose Express Train.

The cookout will feature an open bar serving beer and wine, a meet and greet with the zoo’s outreach animals, and much more for eventgoers to enjoy.

The cookout also includes an “American Alligator Adoption Package for Dad,” which consists of an alligator plush, an adoption certificate, an alligator fact sheet, a coloring kit, a zoo publication, and a packaged animal carrier box.

The event begins at 6:30 p.m. and ends at 8:30 p.m.
