FAN EXPO Dallas, the annual three-day fan convention, is returning for 2021 and will feature a reunion of the four actors who played leading roles as hobbits in “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy.
According to Nerds and Beyond, he convention touts itself the largest sci-fi, horror, anime, and gaming event in Texas, attracting tens of thousands of people every year. 2021 is the 20th anniversary of the first “The Lord of the Rings” film.
“A journey 20 years in the making,” event organizers said in a March 25 Twitter post. “The Four Hobbits – Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd – will reunite at FAN EXPO Dallas. Special event tickets go on sale April 15.”
The 2020 convention was delayed and eventually cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The event will be able to return this year with Texas lifting health restrictions and an increase in the number of people vaccinated. Event organizers say they will follow all official government and local authority guidance as well as any location-specific regulations.

The event is scheduled for Sept. 17-19 and will be held at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center. The venue assures that there will be a formalized program onsite to keep the facility clean, disinfected and safe for all attendees, exhibitors, employees and visitors.
“The Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center has started welcoming back conventions and sporting events, and they are continually refining how to host events safely and effectively,” according to the event’s web site.
