The DFW Metroplex will be rocking this weekend with exciting events that provide a fun family atmosphere.

Saturday, February 18:

Frost Fest Comes to Irving

Frost Fest is a free winter festival coming to Irving on Saturday, February 18, at Levy Event Plaza from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“Frost Fest is our first event of the new year,” said Hannah James, special event coordinator for Irving speaking to The Dallas Express.

The event will feature tons of snow for eventgoers, including snow hills for children and kids at heart to enjoy tubing down.

There will be two play areas, a life-sized snow globe that people can take pictures of, winter-themed bounce houses, balloons, and caricature artists to add to the fun.

Parking for the event is free and will be available at the Waterway Tower Parking Garage.

Additional parking will be available at The Summit Parking Garage at 545 East John Carpenter Freeway, which is just off Riverside Drive, where it costs $10 to park.

“I am really excited, I think the weather will be sunny and cold which is pretty ideal.” said James.

Hillside Village Mardi Gras Celebration

Cedar Hill will celebrate Mardi Gras by throwing a Mardi Gras celebration at the Hillside Village, an open outdoor shopping center.

The event will also feature festive New Orleans jazz music, and retailers said they plan to throw festive beads with special offers and discounts to onlookers.

The Dallas Express spoke to Renee Tims, general manager of Hillside Village, and she explained that many people moved to Cedar Hill after Hurricane Katrina.

“There’s so many people that live in Cedar Hill that are from New Orleans that settled here after Hurricane Katrina,” said Tims. “Mardi Gras has so much excitement.”

“The celebration, the fun of enjoying life, music, one another, and bringing the community together is always our goal,” said Tims.

Kids can craft a mask and stroll with the second-line band.

To receive a wristband and to participate in the second-line band stroll, guests must register at the event.

Festivities begin at 1 p.m. and conclude at 3 p.m.
