The days before Easter in Dallas will be filled with Easter Bunny sightings and egg hunts throughout the area for families to enjoy. Most events are free of charge and offer activities for all ages. Many will include food, games, music, egg hunts, and plenty of candy for children.
Dallas Parks & Recreation
The Dallas Parks & Recreation Department is scheduled to hold free Easter holiday celebrations across the city. The activities differ depending on the area but will occur at the following locations:
-  April 9 at Anita Martinez, Arcadia, Lake Highlands North, Janie C. Turner, Jaycee Zaragoza, Juanita J. Craft, Larry Johnson, Pleasant Oaks, Ridgewood/Belcher recreation centers, and Dallas Executive Airport.
- April 13 at Exline Recreation Center.
- April 14 at Campbell Green, Cummings, Fireside, Fretz, Harry Stone, K.B. Polk, Marcus, Martin Luther King Jr., Nash-Davis, and Reverchon recreation centers.
- April 15 at Bachman, Beckley Saner, Grauwyler, and Martin Weiss recreation centers.
- April 16 at Churchill, Exall, Kidd Springs, Thurgood Marshall, Timberglen, and Walnut Hill recreation centers.

Mesquite Bunny Bash
The Mesquite Bunny Bash event is for all children ages 9 and younger. There will be a chance to snap photos with the Easter Bunny and participate in crafts.
The event will take place at the Evans Recreation Center, 1116 Hillcrest Street, Mesquite, from 9 a.m. to noon on April 9. Admission is free. Click here for more information.
Irving Parks and Recreation Citywide Egg Hunt
Recreation departments in Irving will welcome families and children to participate in egg hunts. Children 2-10 years of age can search for eggs filled with small toys and candy. Crafts will be available, and there will be other entertainment.
The event is free to attend. Cimarron Park, Georgia Farrow, Lee Park, Mustang Park, Northwest Park, and Senter Park recreation centers will be open on April 9 from 10 a.m. to noon. Visit their website for more information.
Victorian Eggstravaganza and Spring Festival in Plano
Thousands of eggs will be hidden for children ages 10 and under at the Heritage Farmstead Museum’s event. Families can tour historic homes, take a jaunt on a hayride, listen to banjo and ukulele music, and participate in hands-on demos and crafts.
A photo booth will be available, and of course, there will be a traditional egg hunt. A range of sheep-themed activities, including shearing, will also be available. Food and drinks will be available for purchase from food vendors and trucks, including Tiff’s Treats.
The celebration will occur at Heritage Farmstead Museum, 1900 W. 15th Street, Plano, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 9. Admission to the museum is $8 for adults and $6 for children. Entry to the egg search is an additional $2.
Easter Egg Hunt in Duncanville
Duncanville will have over 7,000 filled eggs for children to hunt, bounce houses, games, music, and visits with the Easter Bunny.
Armstrong Park, 100 James Collins Boulevard, Duncanville, will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 9 to host this event, and the admission is free. Visit their website for more information.
Easter Egg Hunt in McKinney
Another easter egg hunt will be held at the McKinney Heritage Village at Chestnut Square with prizes, candy, and photo opportunities.
The event will take place at 315 South Chestnut Street in McKinney on April 10Â from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m.
The Egg Scramble in Garland
A large, free Easter egg hunt will be held in Garland, with search zones divided by age group. Concessions will be available for purchase.
The event will be held at Carter Softball Complex at Audubon Park, 550 W. Oates Road, Garland, on April 13 at 6 p.m. Visit their website for more information.
Easter Activities for DogsÂ
Dogs are allowed to enjoy Easter too! Two cities in DFW will host pup-friendly Easter activities to attend with man’s best friend.
Easter Pup-A-Palooza in Rowlett
Canines of all sizes are invited to go egg hunting for doggy goodies and canine-friendly prizes and compete in activities such as Waggiest Tail. Bring a basket for gathering eggs, a leash for your pet, and evidence of rabies immunization.
Scentral Bark Dog Park at 4601 Centennial Drive, Rowlett, will host the event on April 9 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Registration is necessary and costs $10 per dog.
Easter Bone Hunt in Dallas
Dogs can go on a treasure hunt for snacks, balls, squeaky toys, rope tugs, and more at the Dallas Easter Bone Hunt. They can also participate in contests like best pooch-and-person costumes, doggy limbo, and tennis ball bobbing. Photo ops, food trucks, pet pictures, and adoptable dogs will be available.
The hunt will take place on April 9 at Norbuck Park (near White Rock Lake), 200 N. Buckner Boulevard, Dallas, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. For one dog and one person, the cost is $25.
