When it comes to state fairs, there is none bigger than the State Fair of Texas, but a big fair does not have to come with a hefty price. The State Fair of Texas has many ways for you to save money this season, from $5 one-day admission to a season pass that allows for 24 days of fair food and fun.
The only problem with a fair this big is that it is hard to fit everything into one day; top that with several concerts and two college football games, and it becomes impossible.
Fortunately, there are season passes available for $50. This price includes one free single-day bring-a-friend ticket (valid Monday through Friday only), access to all free headlining concerts on the Chevrolet Main Stage, 24 days of live music throughout the grounds, and other discounts on fair goodies.
If you are looking for a flexible one-day admission pass, the premium one-day admission pass for $24 allows you to pick any day you want to go to the fair and can be bundled into two or four-pack combos that include food and ride coupons for less than $100.
Take advantage of a smaller crowd by attending the fair Monday through Thursday for only $15. Seniors’ and children’s admission during the same period is $10.
There are also several designated days where you can take advantage of savings. Thursdays are Senior Days, with senior admission for $5.
Children, adults, and seniors can get in for $10 by bringing a donation of two jars of peanut butter on Opening Day, September 30, as part of a partnership with the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB). On Wednesdays, NTFB’s “Feed The Need” Day allows fairgoers an opportunity to enjoy the fair and give back to the community: bring five canned goods and get in for $5.
During Dr. Pepper Value Days, fairgoers can enjoy admission discounts every Tuesday and Thursday. By purchasing your ticket online, you save $10, but you must be a “Big Tex insider” to receive the promotion code after signing up online.
For the thrill-seekers in your group, Tuesday is a discount day for the Midway with lower prices on most rides. For the foodies, every Thursday is “Thrifty Thursday.” Food vendors will offer reduced pricing for one of their signature food items, and the offerings can range from mini size to regular size items.
Military and first responders receive a discount every day with ID, general admission is reduced every fair day after 5 p.m., and discount coupons will be available at participating McDonald’s throughout North Texas, all offering savings of $5-$7.
The State Fair of Texas runs from September 30 – October 23, 2022.
Fair hours Sunday-Thursday are from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. Friday – Saturday hours are 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. with the last entry at 9 p.m.
