Nadia Nesich, a seventh-grader at Dallas’ Pegasus School of Liberal Arts and Sciences, has been selected as the winner of the DART Student Art Contest for this year.

DART asked kindergarten through 12th-grade students to submit their art based on this year’s theme: “DART’s New Bus Network: Simpler. Better. Faster. Easier!”

Students were tasked with creating an art piece showcasing their favorite Dallas locations. Nesich’s work included stand-out sites such as the Perot Museum, the Dallas Art Museum, the Dallas Zoo, Deep Ellum, the Dallas Aquarium, and downtown.

Thirty-three students made up the list of 2022 winners. DART’s art contest happens yearly and is open to all students in North Texas.

DART will display Nesich’s artwork at the Dallas Museum of Art, Love Field Airport, the Gallery at Courtyard in Plano, and on DART’s website.

The contest also promoted DART’s new bus network, including more frequent service. Now, bus service will match the light rail, with buses available every 15 minutes during peak times and every 20 minutes during midday.

The new network offers less travel time with more direct connections to major transit corridors and fewer stops along the route. DART is also improving its service for people who work non-traditional work hours, such as overnights and weekends. Bus routes will operate at least seven days a week between 5 a.m. and midnight. The 22 core frequent bus routes will run from 4 a.m. to 1 a.m.

GoLink and DARTzoom are two services provided by DART that give riders increased access to nearby public transportation options. New DART GoLink on-demand service zones help achieve the added coverage.

The DARTzoom Bus Network Redesign will result in a 34% increase in the number of jobs that the typical resident of the DART Service Area will be able to reach within one hour.
