If you are looking for a local event to attend that significantly impacts the community’s lower-income families and their children, look no further than Christmas in the Park at Dallas Fair Park on December 16.

The S.M. Wright Foundation started Christmas in the Park in 1998, serving fewer than 200 economically disadvantaged children and their families. Last year, that number rose to over 32,000, with this year’s event expecting to draw in more families needing assistance.

Families in need have until December 14 to sign up to participate in receiving gifts at Christmas in the Park. Participants must register and meet the guidelines found here.

The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. inside the Automobile Building at Fair Park, located at 1010 1st Ave. in Dallas.

The Foundation’s mission is “to provide support and stability to underprivileged children and less fortunate families through hunger relief, economic empowerment, and assistance in the areas of education, health, and social services,” according to its webpage.

Thanks to the generous donations made by individual and corporate sponsors, the Foundation is able to provide families with an array of essential items, including food, clothing, toys, household items, and furniture.

According to Feeding Texas, 1 in 8 Texans experience food insecurity, averaging nearly 4 million individuals. With more than 50% of Texans stressed about increasing inflation and housing costs, as previously reported by The Dallas Express, the S.M. Foundation aims to help meet the community’s needs by helping those who need assistive services the most.

The Foundation understands the importance of these necessities and strives to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those struggling to make ends meet. Through their efforts, the Foundation hopes to alleviate some of the daily hardships that families in need face and help them move toward a brighter future.
