Surfing might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of North Texas, but a bar and restaurant located in the metroplex plans to offer endless water waves for those who want to harness the thrill.
The surf-focused restaurant, which cost upwards of $10 million to build, was the brainchild of Patton Nix and Billy Adams. Fireside Surf, located in The Colony’s Grandscape development, is anticipating its soft opening on February 23, Nix told The Dallas Express, with its grand opening in early March.
The best part? No sharks, 75- to 85-degree water temperatures all year round, and specialty crafted drinks and menu items at the Fireside Surf bar and restaurant.
According to Fireside Surf, even beginners are welcome, with no prior experience required. Its website says the establishment will offer a “non-threatening entry point for new surfers, a place to unwind and cruise for casual surfers, and a freestyle playground for experienced, core surfers.” The facility also plans to offer patrons lessons through their academy, ranging from entry-level to pro.
Fireside Surf says they are “unlocking landlocked areas,” like North Texas, “eliminating the need to be near the ocean and offering a training playground for your next surf excursion.”
On the cuisine side, expect mostly “globally inspired dishes.” On the menu, you will find dishes like Ahi Tuna Burgers, Yellow Fin Ceviche, and the Big Kahuna Breakfast Burrito, among others.
Once open, they recommend patrons arrive 45 minutes before their scheduled pool time. Sessions last 40 minutes and can accommodate up to 12 people taking turns.
To help transition from eating to surfing, Fireside Surf also includes changing rooms, lockers, hot showers, and a retail shop.
