It’s a couple of weeks into the new year, and you’re already feeling the burden of having to keep up with your resolution.
Maybe your accountability buddy isn’t that accountable, or perhaps life is just getting in the way of your commitment. Well, here are some of the best fitness apps to help you keep your promise to yourself.
MapMyRun uses GPS to track your distance, speed, pace, duration, and heart rate. It’s one of the original apps created for runners, and it continues to rank highly on the list due to its expansive features and dedicated community. Forbes Heath rates it a 4.5 because most of its features are free and it tracks shoe mileage so it can tell you when you need a new pair. The downside is that it can drain your battery, and music can’t be integrated.
If you’re into running with others, check out Strava. It tracks runners and cyclists and allows you to join workout challenges with friends and share pictures. It even has training assistance for racing. The cons are no music integration, and most features require a paid subscription.
If you’re into pumping iron, try Jefit. The app is mobile and web-based, and experts ensure you use the proper form to prevent injury. The free version has over 1,300 exercises, so you can vary your workouts without getting bored.
For the best free training app, go with Nike Run Club. The app has an extensive video library of workouts that you can use with little to no equipment and provides Nike master trainers and personal recommendations. The heart rate monitor could use some improvements, however, and you can only use one program at a time.
For Galaxy Watch users, the Workout Trainer works similarly to the Apple Watch activity monitoring. You can monitor your heart while working out, analyze performance, and schedule workouts and reminders. It even has a Samsung Edge panel feature.
No matter what you use to keep in shape, make sure you’re having fun because that’s what will keep you going!
