The 25th annual Empty Bowls event will be held Thursday evening to benefit the North Texas Food Bank.

The North Texas Food Bank (NTFB), established in 1982, is located in Plano and serves 12 counties in the surrounding area. This nonprofit organization distributes donated, purchased, and prepared foods through a network of programs and partner agencies. Last year, the nonprofit provided 106 million meals and distributed more than 44 million pounds of fresh produce to people facing hunger and food insecurity in North Texas.

The Empty Bowls event is an important fundraiser for NTFB. Over the last 24 years, it has helped provide 8.23 million meals to area neighbors.

Attendees at the event will enjoy a “unique, food-tasting experience, featuring dishes crafted by some of the area’s most talented chefs and beloved restaurants,” according to an announcement by NTFB.

Each participant will also select a “one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted bowl from a local artisan — a powerful reminder that not every bowl is full, and together, we can help fill them.”

The event will feature food trucks, a digital cookbook with recipes to try at home, expanded chef stations, and other special surprises to mark this milestone 25th-anniversary event.

The celebrity chef for this year’s Empty Bowls event is Brian Luscher, the director of Culinary Operations for 33 Restaurant Group and the former owner of The Grape, a popular bistro on Lower Greenville in Dallas for many years.

The fundraiser, for adults 21 and older, will take place February 27 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Perot Family Campus at 3677 Mapleshade Lane in Plano. Early VIP access begins at 5 p.m. To purchase a ticket or simply make a donation, click here.

Every dollar donated provides three meals to a neighbor in need.
