Hit-and-Run Leaves One Dead on New Year’s Eve

Dallas police said a fatal hit-and-run occurred in the left-center of the 2600 block of Commerce Street on New Year’s Eve. According to a report by The Dallas Morning News, the victim was standing on the road watching fireworks when he was hit.

The victim was transported to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his wounds. His identity remains unknown.

Dallas police are now looking for the driver who they say was driving the wrong way without headlights on. The suspect fled the area after the accident.

Per The DMN, the vehicle involved in the crash was last seen northbound on North Good Latimer Expressway. The vehicle is said to be a gray 2017 Ford F150 with Texas license plate MWL-6627.

The Dallas Police Department is now looking for the vehicle and is urging anyone with information regarding the case to reach out to the department by calling Detective Jason Massey of the Vehicle Crimes Unit at 214-617-0012. Information can also be submitted to [email protected].
