The other day, I approached two bridges.

I had to make a quick decision about which one to take or risk crashing into the concrete barrier that divided them. I recalled my destination and turned the wheel to guide me home.

We cannot walk on two bridges at once.

Life’s highways are littered with small talk, negativity, and distraction. As Believers, we must choose the path that leads us toward Christ Jesus.

When we give too much attention to boorish and indifferent people, we often forget the old saying by Edmund Burke: “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”

“Nothing” is a form of action, a barrier that separates us from God’s strength and guidance.

Often, the greatest “something” we can do is focus our minds and hearts on our final destination: to live from a Christ-like perspective and pack lightly while leaving bold footpaths of faith for His kingdom.

The foundation of the world’s roads has begun to show signs of discernable wear; some are deceptively slight, and others appear more like potholes.

If we are not careful, we can find ourselves in life’s dark ditch because we set our reactions and passions on the wrong road, becoming led by reactive emotions and selfishness.

Emotions can be deceptive, and selfishness cradles wounded emotion like a bear to her cub.

We must spiritually fortify ourselves to prepare for the journey rather than put all our efforts into fortifying the world’s roads.

As we know, life offers the unexpected and a gamut of ups and downs.

Fortifying your internal focus will make your external path clearer.
