President Donald Trump has marked the sixth anniversary of the United States Space Force with a message celebrating America’s “Guardians of the High Frontier.”
The Presidential statement, released on December 20, coincides with the date Trump established the military’s sixth branch in 2019. The anniversary comes as space increasingly becomes a contested domain, with the President warning of adversaries developing counterspace weapons to target American satellites. His message emphasizes the Space Force’s expanding role in national defense, from missile protection to maintaining economic infrastructure.
“Since the dawn of space exploration, America has been the world leader in technology, innovation, and discovery,” Trump wrote. The force’s members “carry out this legacy with precision and unrelenting expertise to ensure that the United States is always prepared to confront threats originating both on our planet and beyond our skies.”
Trump highlighted the branch’s recruiting success, noting it met annual goals three months early this summer. The achievement suggests growing interest in space-focused military careers.
The President specifically mentioned the development of the “Golden Dome,” describing it as “a cutting-edge missile defense shield to safeguard our citizens and infrastructure from aerial attack.” He said the system received federal funding through what he called “this year’s historic One Big Beautiful Bill.”
Trump warned that adversaries are “embarking on a relentless crusade to destroy American space capabilities with counterspace weaponry.” He called space “the next domain in modern warfare.”
The Space Force’s responsibilities include deterring threats, delivering satellite communications and navigation services, and ensuring access to space for businesses and military operations. Trump emphasized that these capabilities support “the greatest economy and military in the world.”
“When America leads in space, America wins—and our military remains the strongest, most feared, and most lethal in every sphere of battle,” the President declared. He closed his message with the Space Force motto: “Semper Supra!”
