Tropicale Foods has issued a voluntary recall of 14 frozen dessert products sold under its Helados Mexico and La Michoacana brands due to undeclared milk, posing a potentially life-threatening risk to those with dairy allergies.
The recall was initiated on Friday, July 25, and published by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) the following day. According to the agency, the issue was discovered during a company-led label audit. Although “cream” appeared in the ingredient list, the more common allergen name “milk” was not declared.
As of publication, one illness potentially connected to the products has been reported, according to Simply Recipes.
