PepsiCo Inc. voluntarily initiated a product recall of a retail Starbucks beverage it manufactures, fearing the possible contamination by foreign materials, such as metal fragments, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The product in question is the 15-ounce Starbucks Vanilla Espresso Triple Shot, distributed in 12-bottle cases.

A total of 221 cases were recalled on August 15 by PepsiCo. The FDA made an announcement spotlighting the recall on September 8.

The identified cases were sold in seven states: Arkansas, Arizona, Illinois, Indiana, Oklahoma, and Texas.

The FDA advised customers not to consume the product. It also stated that customers should return it to wherever they purchased it from, if possible.

For those on the lookout, PepsiCo told USA Today that the products have a best-by date of March 20, 2023.

The agency classified the product recall as a Class II, which, according to its website, describes “a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”

PepsiCo stated that it had not had any reports of illness in reaction to the product thus far. The company told FOX 4 that it always acts “with an abundance of caution whenever a potential concern is raised.”

Consumers may contact the company if they have any questions by calling its recall hotline: 1-800-211-8307.
