Remote Area Medical (RAM) held a free two-day medical, dental, and vision clinic in Dallas at the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center Saturday, December 3, and Sunday, December 4.

RAM is a nonprofit pop-up medical clinic organization that provides free dental, vision, and medical care services.

Since 2019, the company has held pop-up clinics across the nation and abroad in places like Tennessee, Texas, California, Colorado, Guyana, Haiti, and the Philippines.

“We open the doors to patients at 6:00 AM, and we’ll just go to until the providers can’t see anymore,” said Audra Fitzgerald, Senior Clinic Coordinator, speaking to The Dallas Express.

Ram has provided free healthcare services to those in need through the operation of pop-up clinics around the country for over 35 years.

Ram coordinates with local healthcare services to bring doctors, dentists, nurses, and other practitioners because the state of Texas, through the Corporate Practice of Medicine Doctrine, does not allow outside medical providers to practice medicine.

“Right now, we have about five dentists, we have eight hygienists, we have about 20 medical providers, and we have seven vision providers,” Fitzgerald added.

On average, RAM sees hundreds of people who are in need of medical care, dental care, and vision care, as well as many other services they provide.

“Really, we heard about it through word of mouth,” said Khary Gilford, who accompanied his sister to the clinic speaking to The Dallas Express.

“The service is great, and a lot of people need it. It’s real easy, it’s real simple, direction wise, what they need you to do and how to get here, and the website is easy and simple,” Gilford added.

He told The Dallas Express that his sister needs glasses and dental services and is thankful for what RAM is doing.

Ram has collaborated with The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth.

The nonprofit was founded in 1985 and has provided free medical services to over 888,000 individuals.

RAM does not require I.D. to receive its services.
