Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

Symptoms of listeriosis typically appear within a few hours to a few days after consuming contaminated food. In some cases, it may take up to eight weeks for symptoms to appear, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The recall follows the detection of the bacteria in the packing facility environment. No illnesses have been reported.

Consumers with questions may call Moonlight Companies at 855-215-5017 weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Time.
