Parkland Health announced the opening of the Jubilee Park Community Clinic, a partnership between Parkland Health and Jubilee Park & Community Center.
The facility, which opened on Monday, will extend health and wellness services to Southeast Dallas County and help with the apparent physician shortage in the area. The clinic is expected to serve 3,500 patients in its first year and roughly 7,000 patients yearly after that.
“This area was identified in the 2019 Community Health Needs Assessment as an area with significant healthcare disparities,” stated Christina Mintner, Parkland’s senior vice president of Population Health.
Patients of all ages can receive primary care and dental services at the clinic located at 820 Ann Ave. in Dallas. Jewish Family Service will also provide mental health services on the second level of the 15,000-square-foot, two-story health facility.
“We know Parkland cannot do it alone,” said Mintner. “The only way to effectively address health disparities in Dallas County is to work collectively within communities. Our partnership with Jubilee will help address the non-medical factors that influence health outcomes, like economic stability, education, food, and community engagement.”
Beginning in early September, several neighborhood events, including a ribbon-cutting ceremony, will be held to officially launch all services. The opening of the dental clinic will be postponed until early 2023 due to difficulties with the national supply chain, according to Mintner.
The president and CEO of Jubilee Park & Community Center, Marissa Castro Mikoy, said the clinic will be a true game-changer for the community.
“Leveraging the expertise of Parkland, Jubilee, and Jewish Family Service will move the community towards improved health outcomes and health equity,” she added. “Both Parkland and Jubilee are so proud of this collaborative effort and look forward to our work together for years to come.”
