The maker of popular sack-lunch beverage Capri Sun announced last week a voluntary recall of nearly 6,000 cases of the Wild Cherry Flavored Juice Drink Blend beverages.

The beverages are being recalled by the parent company, Kraft Heinz, due to concerns of contamination from a diluted cleaning solution used on food processing equipment. The recall only affects Wild Cherry flavored Capri Sun products.

According to Kraft Heinz, the cleaning solution was “inadvertently introduced into a production line at one of [its] factories.” The contamination was discovered after the company received complaints about the taste of the drink from customers.

The recall affects Capri Suns with a “Best When Used By” date of June 25, 2023. The manufacturer code on the pouch or carton would be between 0733 and 1000.

Consumers can return any impacted Capri Suns to the store where they were purchased and contact Kraft Heinz at 1-800-280-8252 for a refund.

In other recall news, Lyons Magnus, LLC, announced last week it had expanded its July 28 voluntary recall of nutritional and beverage products to include additional brands and code dates, The Dallas Express reported.

Lyons Magnus brands that have been recalled include Lyons Barista Style, Lyons Ready Care, Organic Valley, Oatly, Premier Protein, and Stumptown.

The announcement was made following consultation and collaboration with the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The recall was issued because of the “possibility of microbial contamination, including Cronobacter sakazakii and Clostridium botulinum,” bacteria that cause food poisoning.
