HCA Healthcare was founded in 1968 and has invested $6.6 billion in Texas over the last five years with the goal to “advance its health system to meet community needs.” HCA Healthcare employs 60,000 workers in Texas.

There is a total of 46 hospitals and 632 affiliated care sites in Texas. Hospitals in the Dallas-Fort Worth area are branded as Medical City.

HCA Healthcare runs 183 hospitals and 2,000 satellite sites, ERs, urgent care centers, and physicians’ clinics across 20 states in the U.S. and the United Kingdom.

Sam Hazen, the CEO of HCA Healthcare, said that they are thrilled to expand their presence in Texas. “The addition of these new hospitals will help our existing network meet the increasing need for healthcare services,” he said in a statement.

HCA Healthcare is expected to have a 2021 revenue of about $59 million, as they are scheduled to report their year-end results on Thursday morning. This would be a significant leap from their 2020 revenue of $51.5 billion.

Hazen stated that the company experienced its most intense surge yet of the pandemic during the third quarter. Physicians delivered “record levels of patient care” to meet the demand caused by the COVID-19 Delta variant.

Texas hospitals have been highly profitable within the past few years. According to the Texas Health Market Review, over 80 hospitals in Dallas-Fort Worth combined for a total of $3.14 billion in earnings for 2019.
