Several of the top-ranking hospitals in the state are located in the metroplex, according to a new report.

U.S. News & World Review evaluated 584 hospitals in the Lone Star State for its “Best Hospitals in Texas” rankings, and five of the top 15 are located in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Six of the top 10 hospitals were located in Houston, including Houston Methodist Hospital, Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center, Memorial Hermann Hospital, Memorial Hermann Greater Heights Hospital, Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital, and Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital.

UT Southwestern Medical Center, located in Dallas, took home second place just behind Houston Methodist Hospital.

UT Southwestern, a general medical and surgical facility that is also a teaching hospital, is nationally ranked in 11 specialties and was called “high performing” in 19 procedures/conditions.

The hospital’s national rankings include being No.15 for diabetes and endocrinology, No.17 for pulmonology and lung surgery, No.19 for neurology and neurosurgery, No.21 for cardiology, heart, and vascular surgery, No.25 in the nation for cancer, and No.26 in the nation for ear, nose, and throat.

Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, a general medical and surgical facility that is also a teaching hospital, took the third spot in the state. The hospital is nationally ranked in six specialties and was called “high performing” in four specialties and 12 procedures/conditions.

The hospital’s national rankings include being No.34 for pulmonology and lung surgery, No.35 for gastroenterology and GI surgery, No.44 for obstetrics and gynecology, No.46 for diabetes and endocrinology, and No.49 for cancer.

Baylor Scott and White All Saints Medical Center in Fort Worth made the list at No.11. The hospital is nationally ranked in one specialty (No.39 in diabetes and endocrinology) and “high-performing” in four specialties and seven procedures/conditions.

Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas ranked No.13. It was “high-performing” in one specialty and nine procedures/conditions.

Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southwest in Fort Worth finished at No.15. It was “high-performing” in 10 adult procedures and conditions.
