Most of us know someone who has struggled with postpartum depression or other difficulties during and after pregnancy. Dallas-based chiropractor Dr. Courtney Gowin and her team have opened a space designed to address those problems and offer support for women who may be struggling with new motherhood.

“The creation of The NEST came from my own suffering from postpartum depression after having my first daughter,” Dr. Gowin told the Dallas Express. “I made it my mission that no woman would feel unsupported during her pregnancy, postpartum, and motherhood journey.”

At the NEST, services are offered in three categories: Pregnancy, Postpartum, and Wellness + Beauty, according to the organization’s website. Some services include midwifery care, chiropractic care, acupuncture, nutrition, postpartum healing, and naturopathic healing. Moms in need of beauty treatments like waxes and facials can also find them at the NEST.

According to Dr. Gowin, the NEST’s goal is to provide “a motherhood journey unlike any other.” This includes an emphasis on community; according to Dr. Gowin, “women were designed to live life together in all stages of life, and most importantly, motherhood.” Classes and services are designed with family in mind, and ultimately, the collective aims to give mothers and families a deep sense of belonging. “Our goal is to have everything a woman needs under one roof as she goes from preconception, pregnancy, and into postpartum,” Dr. Gowin said. “We want to improve birth outcomes and revitalize natural healing from a woman’s perspective.”

The NEST also stands strong in its position as a woman-led company that focuses on women’s health and the strength found in women’s communities. “There is a shift in healthcare, and women are tipping the scale,” Dr. Gowin said. “Women who are doctors, mothers, and business owners are starting to realize that there is power in collaboration.”

As for the inspiration behind the name of the organization? “The name came to me in a dream one night when I had to make the business decision to expand my overhead and business when I wasn’t in a financial place to do so. I truly think that God placed this vision and mission on my heart, and it is a dream come true to see such a special place thrive.”
