Cook Children’s Health Care System plans to break ground early next year on the next phase of its Fort Worth campus expansion, beginning with a $42.9 million parking garage on the west side of the Medical District campus.

The 309,000-square-foot facility will accommodate 504 vehicles and include a basement level with a data center and loading dock, according to project filings. Construction is scheduled to begin April 1, 2026.

“The Cook Children’s West Garage will be 309,000 square feet and will accommodate 504 vehicles to better support our patients and their families and make parking easily accessible,” said Eline deBruijn Wiggins, communications manager for Cook Children’s, according to the Fort Worth Report.

“We are committed to being there for every child and look forward to opening our additional expansions,” she added.

The new garage will sit at the corner of 8th and Terrell avenues and serve the hospital’s future West Tower, a 760,000-square-foot medical building planned as part of Cook Children’s multi-year expansion.

The West Tower project includes an expanded pediatric intensive care unit, additional operating rooms, and upgraded imaging services. The Cook Children’s Heart Center will also undergo a redesign.

Both the garage and tower are part of Cook Children’s 10-year master plan to expand and modernize its Fort Worth campus to meet rising demand for pediatric care in North Texas.

Cook Children’s joins several major health systems currently expanding within the Medical District, including JPS Health Network, UT Southwestern, Baylor Scott & White Health, Medical City Fort Worth, and Texas Health Resources.

Hospital officials said the parking facility represents a crucial step in supporting those larger goals while improving immediate access for patients and families.
