As parents and college students stock their freezers with easy-to-prepare foods for the school year, one chicken manufacturer is busy pulling some of its products.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service has issued a warning to consumers regarding Perdue Foods’ recall of approximately 167,171 pounds of frozen, ready-to-eat chicken breast nugget and tender products due to potential metal contamination.
The FSIS press release alerts consumers to frozen, fully-cooked chicken breast nugget and tender products manufactured on March 23, 2024, and bear the establishment number “P-33944” on the back of the packaging.
After receiving consumer reports about metal wire being found in the product, the company informed FSIS.
The specific products in question are as follows:
22-oz. (1.38-lbs.) vacuum-sealed plastic packages containing “PERDUE Simply Smart ORGANICS Breaded CHICKEN BREAST NUGGETS” with Best If Used By date of “03 23 25” represented on the back of the package.
29-oz. (1.81-lbs.) vacuum-sealed plastic packages containing “PERDUE CHICKEN BREAST TENDERS with Best If Used By date of “03 23 25” represented on the back of the package.
22-oz. (1.38-lbs.) vacuum-sealed packages containing “BUTCHERBOX Organic Chicken Breast Nuggets” with Best If Used By date of “03 23 25” represented on the back of the package.
The products were distributed nationwide and were also available for purchase online. According to the announcement, no official cases of adverse reactions from using these products have been reported.

Near this time last year, another chicken manufacturer was experiencing a recall. Approximately 245,366 pounds of Banquet chicken strip entrees were pulled after plastic was discovered in some of the chicken strips, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.
